I started agility training in 1996, first with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and then with Papillons. My dogs have done well over the years, and I am still actively competing in agility. I conducted classes at SOTC and then opened my own facility, Awesome Abilities Training School, where I taught agility for 19 years in Skaneateles.
Agility training has evolved since I started, and I have moved forward right along with it, keeping up with the new ways of thinking and doing things. Along the way, it's been clear that some of the “old” skills—the basics of agility handling—are still relevant and must be solid in every agility team’s toolbox to succeed.

I do push my students out of their comfort zones to help them excel and better themselves and their dogs, but I never lose sight of the fact that agility training must be fun for both dog and handler.
